INSO is looking for a Deputy Safety Advisor INSO is an international non-governmental, non-profit organisation. Our mission is to support the humanitarian community with information, analysis and advice that enhances situational awareness, supports informed decision-making, strengthens operational practice and enables humanitarian access. Location: Beirut, Lebanon Scope of the Position Under the supervision of the Safety Advisor, the successful candidate will be focussed on monitoring safety and security related incidents for Southern Syria. He/she will be focused on data management, data verification and encoding, but will also be included in context analysis and review. Key Objectives Assist in the collection of security information 1. Assist in the collection of security information a. Receive, review and confirm safety and security incidents reports on a daily basis. b. Review the quality of the received information and compare with other reports. c. Develop and maintain personal and professional contacts throughout Southern Syria. d. Work to verify non confirmed incidents through other sources. 2. Assist the Safety Advisor in the delivery of INSO Services a. Register on a daily basis, verified incidents. b. On a weekly bases, finalize the weekly regional incident list. c. Ensure that the Safety Advisor is aware of security incidents that warrant issuance of a Threat Warning or Security Report. 3. Develop the knowledge and skills required to stand in for the Safety Advisor when necessary a. Under the guidance of the Safety Advisor, learn how to deliver Threat Warnings, Security Reports and Security Roundtables, and how to contribute to the production of Bi-Weekly reports. b. Develop knowledge and understanding of the security environment in the southern region and its impact on the capacity of NGOs to deliver services. Qualification For the position of Deputy Safety Advisor, INSO is looking for a male or female following qualifications: 1. Good knowledge and understanding of the context and conflict dynamics in Southern Syria, having a pre-existing network will be a plus. 2. Proven experience in conflict monitoring/analysis or security management, a proven experience with NGO’s will be a plus. 3. Working experience with NGOs 4. An academic background, preferably political science or international relations. 5. Display a capacity to look at the conflict in a neutral manner. 6. Be mature, curious, detail oriented and conscientious. 7. Good oral and written English and Arabic skills. The vacancy will be open till the 16th of October 2016.
